Obituary

Lynn "Cutty" L. Locke, age 81 of Barryton, passed away peacefully Monday, August 13, 2012 at his home with his beloved wife Norma and son Shane at his side. He was born in Kensington, Ohio on April 19, 1931 the youngest son of Howard and Therma (Young) Locke. On July 16, 1955 he married Norma M. DeBee in Minerva, OH. They made their home in Minerva before moving to Lansing, MI in 1962 where they raised their son Shane. Cutty retired from the Lansing School District where he was a custodian then became a commercial painter for Kost Construction and later the Villas of Woodgate. Cutty and Norma moved to Barryton in 1989 where they enjoyed their home on the Chippewa River. Cutty was a member of the American Legion in Ohio and a master at billards. He was an avid hunter and sports enthusiast. When he was able he looked forward to playing baseball and couldn't resist watching a good game. He enjoyed playing cards, horse racing and sharing a cup of coffee and donuts with friends. Cutty will be remembered by his wife, Norma, for all the care, strength and support he has provided her for the last 57 years. His son Shane (Lori) Locke of Lansing and son at heart Deron (Pam) Goolsby of Haslett will remember the teacher and storyteller. He is the grandfather of Ryan Locke, Timothy Campbell, Crystal Compson and Michael Compson. Cutty is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents, 4 brothers; John, Paul, Ben and Richard Locke and 1 sister; Amy Jo Taylor. A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Judson Baptist Church, (530 Vernon Ave., Lansing) with Pastor Doug Bennett officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until Noon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Cutty's name can be made to Heartland Hospice (1426 Straits Dr., Bay City, MI 48706)
