Lyle E. Waite, age 75 of Sand Lake, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was born July 2, 1940 in Reed City the son of Henry and June (Dow) Waite. Lyle married the former Alice Marie Yarrington on September 2, 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Big Rapids. He was a hardworking man his entire life, employed at several different companies during his working years. Lyle and Alice had made their home in Morley, Grand Rapids and in Sand Lake for the past 30 years. He loved every type of sports and enjoyed following his favorite teams. Lyle will be forever missed by his beloved family, especially Christmas gatherings without him, because Lyle was always Santa Clause to his many nieces and nephews. Survivors include his loving wife, Alice Waite of Sand Lake; two sisters, "Ethel Hatton of Mecosta, Lila (Robert) Stanley of Canadian Lakes; four brothers, Floyd (Patrica) Waite of Cedar Springs, Earl (Carmen) Waite of School Section Lake, Henry Waite of Lakeview, Daniel (Charma) Waite of Mecosta and many nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Stanley Waite and a sister, Dolly Gibbons. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Rick Malone officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, October 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Stanwood. Memorial contributions in Lyle's name may be given to either the Huggard Bible Church of Sand Lake or the First Baptist Church of Big Rapids.
