Lyle E. Moore, age 95 of Barryton, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Altercare of Big Rapids where he had lived for nearly 10 years. He was born February 28, 1918 at home in Barryton, the son of Ralph and Vera (Gingrich) Moore. Lyle graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1936. A lifelong resident of Barryton, Lyle spent many years working in the nearby Oil fields. He established the Bay Gas Station, south of Barryton, where he delivered gasoline and propane. Lyle was the Shell Oil distributor out of Mt. Pleasant for many years. He also farmed on the family farm, located on 10th Avenue in Barryton, until it was sold. He was a life member of the James A. Cliff Masonic Lodge #424 of Weidman and a life member of Odd Fellows Lodge #196 in Hersey. Lyle is survived by his three children; Danny Moore of Jackson, James Moore of Hersey, Paula (Jeff) Helbert of Walker; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Thomas and Tim Moore and a sister Beth "Betty" Floria. A graveside memorial service is being planned for this spring at the Strong Cemetery near Barryton.
