Luella M. Jehnzen, age 93 of Rodney, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 13, 2011. She was born March 18, 1917 in Detroit the daughter of Ira L. and Vienna (Chesney) Bressler. She married Maurice "Mike" Jehnzen on July 11, 1939 in Detroit. Following Mikes discharge from the United States Navy the young couple moved to the home in Rodney where Luella has resided ever since. Luella was a wonderful home maker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She cared for her grandchildren and loved her family very much. She is survived by 2 sons, Louis (Debra) Jehnzen of Rodney, Jerry Jenzen of Long Beach, CA; a daughter, Linda (Jehnzen) McCallum of Stanwood; 14 grandchildren; Robin (Marc) Smith of Baldwin, Carrie (Mike) Russell of Arizona, Wayne (Peggy) Jehnzen, Leonard (Natalie) Jehnzen, Eric (Tracey) Jehnzen, Matt McKinch, Mark (Lisa) McKinch all of Rodney, Darrell Garrett, Mike McCallum both of Chippewa Lake, Chris McCallum of Barryton, Willie McCallum of Maryland, Ron (Kathy) DeMott of Mecosta, David DeMott, Teri DeMott of Canadian Lakes; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great Grandson; a sister, Marion South of Pocahontas, Arkansas and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Luella was preceded in death her husband Maurice "Mike" Jehnzen on February 18, 1983, a daughter, Connie DeMott; 4 sisters, Margaret Whitten, Dorothy Garrett, Maggie Bressler and Betty Morel. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 18th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Mike Riegler officiating. Spring burial will be at Martiny Township Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Cards and memorials for the family may be left at the funeral home.
