Lucinda Rose "Cindy" Thren, age 53, of Mecosta passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 4, 2013 at her home. She was born September 14, 1959 in Edmore, the daughter of Jack and Lois (Decker) Crittenden. Cindy graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1977. She married Kevin Thren on September 8, 1979 resided in Weidman until moving to their home on Lake Mecosta in 1989. Cindy was employed at the Kroger Store in Mt. Pleasant for over 20 years until her retirement. Most recently she was the manager of The Canadian Lakes Refuse Center. Cindy had a soft spot in her heart for animals; she did all she could to find them good homes and keep them safe. She will always be remembered as a generous, loving, fun woman with many dear friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Kevin of Mecosta; daughter, Emilee (Tony) Smith of Garden City; sister, Carol (Mark) Gardner of St. Clair Shores; step-granddaughter, Hannah Smith; mother-in-law, Donna Thren; brothers-in-law, Kerry Thren, Kasey (Michelle) Thren all of Weidman; sisters-in-law, Kim Thren of Weidman, Kelly Thren of Boston, MA, Kris (Jay) Bransom of Burleson, TX and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law, Duane Thren and brother-in-law, Keith Thren. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 8th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ed Milam officiating. The family will greet friends Thursday, March 7th from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be at Decker Cemetery near Millbrook. Memorial contributions in Cindy's name may be made to the Canadian Lakes Pet Food Drive. At the family's request, the guestbook option is not available.
