Lucille Constance West, age 78 of Barryton, was called home to her Lord, February 23, 2007 at Mecosta County Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born February 13, 1929 in Big Rapids to Harry and Lucille (Masera) Castle. Lucille graduated from Barryton Agricultural High School in 1947. She attended linotype school in English, IN, going on to work at various Michigan newspapers, including the Big Rapids Pioneer. Lucille met Clarence E. West in Kalamazoo and married him on October 8, 1949. They made their home in Bangor, MI then moved to Barryton in 1962 where Lucille resided until her passing. A lover of books and writing, Lucille was a published poet and a contributor to local newspapers. She was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, contributing her writing talents to the church. Lucille is survived by: Her loving husband; Clarence Edward West of Barryton Children: Millie (Ronald) Sandelius of Cedar Springs Harry West of Barryton Avison (Barb) West of Phoenix, AZ Bill (Diann) West of South Boardman Rose (Chris) Petersen of Greenville Frank (Liz) West of Stanwood Thirteen grandchildren Four Great-grandchildren Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lucille's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church 12775 Northland Drive, Big Rapids followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lucille's memory may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Big Rapids.
