Lucille F. Hurdle of Big Rapids passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Mecosta County Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She had lived a remarkable 99 years. Lucille was born July 15, 1912 in Denver, Indiana the daughter of Clinton and Mary (Breidenstine) Robbins. As a child Lucille moved to Reed City, where she graduated from high school. She married Edward Hurdle on July 3, 1931 and together they made their home in Big Rapids. Lucille was a busy mother of 5 children and also enjoyed several part time jobs. She worked at Big Rapids Greenhouse, on the third ward election board for the City of Big Rapids and at Judson's Hardware during the holidays. She was a member of several bridge clubs, where she was an avid player. Lucille was a fan of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She will be forever loved and remembered by her adoring family, including 5 children; Joan (James) McEvoy of Bay City, Clinton "Bud" (Louise) Hurdle of Viera, Florida, Barbara (Wesley) Warner of Rodney, Anna May (Wayne) Schuberg of Big Rapids, Mary Anna (Earl) Gonyaw of Midland; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Telfer of Big Rapids and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Edward on June 6, 2004 and two sisters, Edna Haviland and Dorothy Baxter. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Clay Bates officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services (Noon to 1:00 p.m.). Burial will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids.
