Luann A (Boozan) Johnson, 82 of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home. She was born November 12, 1940, to Thomas and Gertrude (Cobb) Boozan. She graduated from St. James Catholic School in Ferndale, MI where she earned her varsity letters for Basketball. Luann also enjoyed singing in the choir and the school theater group.
She loved reminiscing about the days she raced her '56 Red Chevy Convertible down Woodward Ave. with her girlfriends. This is where she met Tom Johnson. He went to fix her car and he lent her a radio. Luann returned the radio to him, traveling all the way to Remus, MI from Ferndale. They were married January 7, 1961.
Together Luann and Tom enjoyed square dancing, snowmobiling, and going to the Daytona 500, which seemed to always fall on the week of Valentine's Day.
They moved around from Remus, Mecosta, and Edmore, where Tom ran multiple gas stations. Luann and Tom settled in Big Rapids where they raised their three boys and one daughter. She always enjoyed watching the kids and all their friends when they had mud runs, football games, and barn tag games at the house.
When the kids were older, she went to work for the MTA travel agency, where she had the opportunity to travel to multiple sites in order to sell trips for the agency. Luann always said her favorite was the Alaskan Cruise and would love to get back there some day.
She enjoyed swimming, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and computer games. Luann always recorded the Lions, Tigers, and Patrick Mahomes games so she could bypass all the commercials.
She loved to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren learn to swim in the pool, going to watch them at their Christmas programs, and school sporting events; except wrestling, she didn't like that.
Luann was loved and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Tom; sons Tom, Chris (Deb), and Brad (Roxanne) Johnson; daughter, Stephanie (Geno) Heintzelman; 13 grandchildren, Jake, Dustin (Heather); Adam (Maria), Justin (Stacy), Heather (Travis), Alex; Crystal (Jeremy), Jennifer(Ralph), Bradley, Matthew, Christopher, Coty (Brianna) and Melissa (Eric); 15 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; sister, Deb (Chuck) Brown; sisters-in-law, Beverly Boozan, Christy Johnson, and Sandy Levisay; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lester and Tom Boozan, brothers-in-law Kim Johnson and Bob Livesay.
Per Luann's wishes cremation has taken place and a family service will be held later in the spring.
