She was born on May 27, 1924, in Barryton, to George and Anna (Meier) VanSyckle. She graduated from Barryton High School and attended Ferris State Institute. She was married to Richard John Hansen on August 17, 1946, at St. Mary's Church in Big Rapids. He passed away on March 3, 1982. In June of 1984, she married Thomas Marsh, who also predeceased her. Mrs. Marsh worked as secretary at the Mecosta County Abstract Office in Big Rapids for over 40 years and, after retiring, she resumed working there part time. She wintered several years in Lake Placid, Florida, where in May 1999 she was in a very serious car accident that altered her life. In 2003 she moved from her home in Big Rapids to the Bobosky Memorial Home West in Grand Rapids, operated by St. Dilaus, Inc., to serve patients who have sustained brain injuries. Before her accident, Mrs. Marsh enjoyed reading, playing cards, golfing, walking and spending time with friends and family "" especially her five grandsons. Daughter Rebecca L. In addition to daughter Rebecca (and husband David) of Battle Creek, she is survived by son Mark R. Hansen (and wife Nancy Lemmen) of Grayling, son Edward J. Hansen of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and daughter, Mary L. Smith (and husband Jay) of White Lake Township; grandchildren Matthew (and wife Kacy) Armock, Michael (and wife Melissa) Armock, Lucas Hansen, Wyatt Hansen, and J.K. (Jacob) (and wife Emily) Smith; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ida and Florence. The family will greet friends beginning at 12 noon on Monday, February 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. with Fr. Lam T. Le officiating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids in the spring. Memorials can be made to the Bobosky Memorial Home, 429 Nordberg Avenue NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
