Obituary

Lowell "Skeet" Otis Ring, age 83 of Barryton went home to be with His Lord on January 12, 2010 at Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids. Skeet was born to Thomas Wesley and Bertha (Lane) Ring on August 30, 1926 in Clover Bend, Arkansas. Skeet went to school in Black Rock, Arkansas. On September 12, 1948 he married his soul mate Violet "Maxine" Sutherland in Detroit. They made their home in Wayne before moving to Barryton 13 years ago. Together, as a couple, Skeet and Maxine were complete. They were looking forward to another fishing trip on Kentucky Lake. Skeet was a millwright by trade in the automotive industry (and good at it) which took him over seas to Belgium one time. Most days Skeet could be found watching the cooking program or recreating a dish he saw on the food network. His family will not forget the delicious cheesecake he used to bake. Skeet enjoyed gardening and canning. He was raised and baptized in Church of Christ but attended the Barryton Church of God with Maxine until his health declined. As a young man music was a major part of his life. Skeet Ring and The Hillbilly Swingsters put out a track that has currently been replayed on the radio. His love for music led him to fluently streaming music on the computer from a Nashville Radio Station. Skeet will be deeply missed by the family he loved deeply; son Kenneth Lowell (Cathy) Ring of Taylor, daughter Marsha (John M.) Mellish of Cadillac, sisters Madge and Lois, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Skeet was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Maxine on January 8, 2010 and nine brothers and sisters. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Funeral services for Skeet and Maxine will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 with visitation three hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Barryton Church of God. Memorial donations in Skeet's name can be made to the "wishes of the family" .
