Loureen L. Woods, age 80 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at her home with her loving family at her side. She was born June 6, 1931 in Emerson Township, Gratiot County, MI the daughter of Clarence and Agnes (Finch) Anderson. Loureen worked at the Masonic Home in Alma where she met Melvin G. Woods. They were married on June 6, 1953 and made their home in Alma. In 1964 Loureen, Melvin and their three young children moved to Big Rapids where they built their current home on the Muskegon River. Loureen is survived by her beloved husband of over 58 years, Melvin; three children, Dan (Lisa) Woods of White Cloud, Doug Woods of Pasadena, MD, Denise (George) Gemski of White Cloud; seven grandchildren, Nikki, Jack, Jenna, Danny, Dave, Mike and Jennifer; one great-granddaughter, Solia; seven brothers, Dale (Millie) Anderson of Flint, Gale (Marge) Anderson of Lansing, Richard (Beverly) Anderson of White Cloud, Louis Anderson of Alma, Basil (Beverly) Anderson of Perrinton, Howard Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Arlene Soloman of Edmore, Dorothy (Bill) Kienitz of Alma and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Loureen was preceded in death by four brothers, Gordon, Ron, Andy and Gerald; two sisters, Dorothea and Betty. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Ed Milam officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday, two hours prior to services beginning at 12:00 p.m. noon. Spring burial will be at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Loureen's name may be given to the Salvation Army.
