Louise V. (Blodgett) Helmer, age 81 of Barryton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her home. Louise was born May 14, 1929 in Fork Township, Mecosta Co. to Earl and Mryle (Strong) Blodgett. Louise enjoyed playing cards, shopping, going out to eat, canning and spending time with friends and family at gatherings. Louise married Gordon on October 2, 1948 in Barryton and they made their home on the Helmer family farm where they raised their family. Louise is survived by 4 sons, Ron (Jackie) Helmer of Blanchard, Dave Helmer of Barryton, Steven (Lori) Helmer of Barryton, Jeff (Linda) Helmer of Lake; a daughter Nancy (Ken) Loll of Barryton; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 more coming in June; a sister, Carol (Benn) Johnson of Weidman; a brother Joe (Sandy) Blodgett of Farwell, and sisters in law; Iva Blodgett of Indiana, Margaret Blodgett of Goodrich, Wanda (Dick) Helderop of Barryton and Gertrude Helmer of Sears; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Louise was preceded in death by her husband Gordon Helmer, 4 brothers; Bud, Emerson, Al and Wayne; 2 sisters Irene and Dorothy. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24th at the Barryton Church of Christ with Pastor Randy Piatt officiating. Interment will be at Flake Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Daggett Funeral home in Barryton on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions in Louise's name may be made to the Barryton Fire Department.
