Louis Fay Nellis, age 92 of Barryton, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Metron of Big Rapids. He was the youngest of 10 children born to Charles and Helen (Wynne) Nellis. Louis was born August 13, 1920 on the family farm on Truman Road in Barryton. Louis graduated from Barryton High School in 1938. Louis married Mildred Stiles on September 26, 1943 in Comstock Park and they made their home in East Lansing and Mason before returning to the family farm. He lived in East Lansing and was employed at MSU bull barn, moved houses and later worked at Oldsmobile where he retired after 30 years. Louis was passionate about farming, raising animals and planting a large garden. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. He was also an avid euchre player. Louis is survived by three sons, Charles "Dan" (Jean) Nellis of Dansville, MI/Fla., Brian (Brenda) Nellis of Holt and Vergil (Mary) Nellis of Lansing; one daughter, Angelia BeVier of Reed City; thirteen grandchildren, twenty five great- grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred (Stiles) Nellis and nine brothers and sisters. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with the family greeting friends two hours prior from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
