Louis D. Baker, age 74 of Barryton formerly of Lansing, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at his home. He was born November 13, 1936, the son of Donald and Harriett (Root) Baker. Louis graduated in 1954 from Sexton High School in Lansing. He entered the United States Navy and was the first crew on the USS Saratoga. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Louis enjoyed gardening, landscaping and being social. Building was his passion; he helped build his own home. Louis loved his family and he will be missed. He is survived by 3 children, Donald (Shelly) Baker of Potterville, Lynett (Duane) Jack of Lakeview and Louis Baker II of Barryton; 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Patrick, Matthew, Travis, Curtis and Amber; 2 brothers, Dick (Betty Jo) Baker of Grand Ledge and Bruce (Phylis) Baker of Dewitt; many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, George and Lee Baker; a sister Val Campbell. A memorial service with military honors will take place 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Flake Cemetery with visitation 1 hour prior at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
