LouAnne L. Brand, age 75, died peacefully Friday, April 29, 2022 in Big Rapids. She was born September 15, 1946 in Muskegon, the daughter of Ward and Erie (VanOflen) Grant. LouAnne enjoyed spending time with her family; especially babysitting her grandchildren. She took pleasure in reading all genres of books and cooking for friends and family. LouAnne enjoyed preparing for and celebrating the Christmas holiday. She would buy pounds and pounds of sunflower seeds to feed the birds she so loved watching. One of the things LouAnne liked to do to wind down was play video games on her Xbox. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her life but most enjoyed working as a corrections officer for over ten years with the Mecosta County Sheriffs Department, retiring in 1994. She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Doug of Barryton; sister, Susan (Lyle) Hansen of Scottville; children, John Jr. (Becky) Zimmerman of Big Rapids, Monica (Pat) Brooks of Harrison; grandchildren, Grace, Aiden, and Elizabeth Zimmerman; dog, Charlie; many nieces and nephews. Louanne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Freddie and Ward Jr. Grant; sister Mary Fenton and brother-in-law Jim Hansen. A big thanks to the Mecosta County Medical Center for all the wonderful care and EXCELLENT nursing she received the past few months. She felt very comfortable and well cared for.
