Obituary

Lorraine A. Parker age 80 of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017. She was born August 7, 1937 in West Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, the only child of Elmer and Florence (Pearson) Frye. Lorraine worked as a hairdresser while living out East. She moved to Mecosta County in the early 1970s and soon after married Douglas "Doug" Parker. Together they owned and operated Parkers Landing on the Muskegon River at Davis Bridge until they sold the business in 2000. Lorraine was an active member of the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and attended various activates provided by the Mecosta County Senior Center. Lorraine is survived by two sons, Robert (Mary) Eichler of Long Valley, NJ, Todd (Melissa) Eichler of Big Rapids; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many dear friends including Alice Kuikstra and Ada Spears whom provided loving care to Lorraine. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, husband, Doug Parker on November 3, 2006. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Gary Bondarenko officiating, burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Stanwood. The family will greet friends on Friday, November 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions in Lorraines name may be made to the Mecosta County Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels or the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood.
