Lorraine M. Chasseur, age 93, died Friday, May 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family in Big Rapids. She was born November 19, 1929 in Chicago, the daughter of William and Bernice (Stuba) Waskowicz. Lorraine was a nurturing person. She had a love for taking care of animals, including hand feeding the deer that would come into her yard. Lorraine cared for her entire family; she made her home a welcoming and fun place for all the kids in the neighborhood. She had a green thumb and often tended to her flower and vegetable gardens. Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crafting, listening to music and polka dancing around the kitchen. She liked to stay busy, socializing with friends or picking berries for the many pies she loved to bake. Lorraine gave her whole heart to her family and will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the Spectrum Health Hospice team for the care and support they have given Lorraine for the last three years. She is survived by her children, Karen (Rick) Langworthy of Big Rapids, Michael Chasseur of Big Rapids; granddaughters, Jennie and Melanie Chasseur all of Big Rapids; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfonso; parents; and sister, Anna Loree. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends one hour prior. Officiating, Father Rob Mulderink. Lorraine will be laid to rest at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made in Lorraines name to Spectrum Health Hospice.
