Lora Alice (Brisendine) Horning passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in rural Clare, Michigan, during a snowstorm, to Willie Ernest Brisendine and Hettie (Hall Brisendine. As a small child she lived in Grandville and Gladwin. She came to Barryton in 1942. Lora graduated from Barryton Rural Agriculture High School in 1954. She married her sweetheart, Robert Leroy Horning on June 25, of that year.

Lora worked at several businesses in the Barryton Village, Cole's Grocery, Mackersie Bros, Wixon & Deans, Loos Pharmacy, and gave a shot at being a waitress at Northern Trails Restaurant, before a few years at Evart Products. Lora loved music and played guitar, keyboard, and several other instruments. Some of her happies years were spent playing with the "Waybacks." She also played with :Country Flavored" and "Lyon Country." She took her camera everywhere she went. She was a past member of the Barryton Rebeckah Lodge, Cub Scout Leader, and enjoyed the fellowship at the Church of God for several years.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Willie and Hettie Brisendine; brothers: Ernest and Burl; and her loved husband: Robert who she shared her life with for 66 years.

She leaves her son: David (Pam); daughter: Cathy (Greg); grandchildren: Robert, David, Crystalyn, Dillon, and Polly; great grandson: Andrew; along with several cousins.

A Final Prayer will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, 2:00 P.M. at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes, Barryton. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at East Fork Cemetery, Barryton. Memorial Contributions may be made according to Corewell Health Hospice.
