Lillian J. Spence, age 82 of Barryton passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Mecosta County Medical Center. Lillian was born in Lansing, November 1, 1923 to George and Helen (Trendel) Harrell. Mrs. Spence worked along side her husband William at Spence Oil Company which they owned and operated for 25 years. After retiring she found a new passion for gardening and fishing. Lillian was a member of the Big Rapdis Area Amateur Radio Club (KC8OMJ) and member of the Remus Congregation of Jehovah's Witness. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed taking care of her family. Lillian is survived by her loving children: Jacob (Rosemarie) Spence of Big Rapids, Billie Josephine (George) Straus of Barryton, two grandchildren: Jacob William (Sara) Spence of Denver, CO, Amber Rose Spence of Okemos, MI, two sisters Helen A. Schmidt of Lansing, MI, Mary E. Goggin of Lansing, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents Lillian was preceded in death by her first husband James Palmer, son Randall J. Palmer Spence, husband William J. Spence, brothers: Leland, Donald, Jacob and Robert Harrell and sister Dorothy Clark. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. Funeral services for Mrs. Spence will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday with Elder Burton K. Schoder II officiating. A 3:00 p.m. committal service will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
