Obituary

Lillian M. Darnell, age 93, formerly of Barryton passed away April 1, 2007 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was born February 7, 1914 in Montcalm County, Mich. to Edward and Elinar (McClelland) Hart. On June 17, 1933 Lillian married Cecil "Red" Darnell in Weidman. They made their home in Weidman moving to Barryton in 1939 where Lillian took pride in being a home maker. She retired from food service at Barryton Rural Agricultural School. Lillian had various talents including; quilting, pine cone crafting, carpentry, rug weaving and playing the organ and piano. Her children remember their mom sewing and being a professional patcher. Lillian was fascinated by nature, loved hummingbirds and gardening. She volunteered at the Barryton Historical Museum and belonged to WCG at the Barryton Church of God. Lillian was fiercely proud of her family" she liked her kids and loved the grandchildren she enjoyed spending time with. Lillian is survived by: two sons, Cecil E. (Judy) of Mason and Donald (Mary Kay) of Morley, two daughters; Audrey (Al) Ritt of Dexter and Carol (Don) Ruppert of Marion, brother; Clare (Ann) Hart of Comstock Park sister; Lucile (Erwin) Jankowiac of Midland, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Barryton Church of God with Pastor John Mellish officiating. Donations in Lillian's name may be made to the family or the charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
