Lila Elizabeth Yarrington, 93 of Big Rapids, Michigan passed away Friday, April 14, 2006 at Altercare of Big Rapids. Mrs. Yarrington was born November 14, 1912 in Slocum Grove, Michigan to Ruben and Mary (Bark) Baker. She was married in 1928 to Halla Wheeler, Sr. On March 2, 1935, she was married to Melvin Yarrington, Sr. Surviving are her daughters - Gerri Wheeler, Velma Keckler, Eleanor (Jim) Spedowske, Grace Kitelinger, all of Big Rapids, Shirley Holmes of Paris, and Alice (Lyle) Waite of Sand Lake; son - Halla Wheeler of Wausau, Wisconsin; 30 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law - Lena Yarrington of Paris son-in-law - Henry Waite of Sand Lake; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Yarrington was preceded in death by her parents; husbands - Halla Wheeler, Sr. in 1933 and Melvin Yarrington, Sr. in 1962; daughters - Lila (Betty) Lunsted, Hattie Smith, Agnes Waite, and infant daughter - Mary Yarrington; two sons - Melvin Yarrington, Jr. and Charles Yarrington; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 17th the at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home, Big Rapids with Pastor David Frees, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Big Rapids, officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Big Rapids or donor's choice.
