Obituary

Lewis Nagy, age 93 of Canadian Lakes formerly of the Detroit area, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010. He was born December 20, 1916 in Kato,Pennsylvania, the son of Laszlo and Elizabeth Nagy. Lewis was honorably discharged from the United States Army, serving during World War II. He married the former Irene Harsanyi in 1935 and together they made their home in Detroit where Lewis worked for Dana Corporation and retired after 35 years. Lewis and Irene also enjoyed a home in Zephyrhills, Florida for over 30 years. After Irene passed away Lewis moved to the Canadian Lakes area to be near his daughter and family. Lewis enjoyed music, singing and dancing his entire life. He had a fondness for anything related to the railroad and trains. Lewis stayed close to his family because he enjoyed their company and loved them so much. He is survived by 2 daughters; Patricia I. (John) Krueger of Garden City, Gloria J. (Robert) Huff of Canadian Lakes, 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandsons; 2 sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Polczer and Irene Doerfler both of Florida and many nieces and nephews. A son, Lewis Joseph Nagy and his wife, Irene preceded Lewis in death. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 12th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with the family greeting friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Dominic Tommy, from the Northland United Methodist Church in Stanwood will be officiating. Memorial contributions in Lewis' name may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the American Heart Association.
