Leonard Boroff, age 86 of Mecosta, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Altercare of Big Rapids. He was born June 9, 1922 in Morton Township, Mecosta County. Leonard was honorably discharged from the United States Army, serving during World War II in the European Theater. He was a lifelong resident of Mecosta. Leonard was employed at Kelvinator in Grand Rapids, later known as Electrolux, until his retirement. He was a longtime member of V. F. W. Post #2335 of Mecosta and attended the Chippewa Lake Community Church with his family. While Leonard was a resident at Altercare he especially liked to help make soup and deliver it to the Mecosta County E.M.S. employees. Although Leonard never had any children of his own he enjoyed and loved all the children in his family. He is survived by, 2 Aunts, Elizabeth Maneke of Mecosta, Evelyn Boroff of Sand Lake, Many cousins including, Carlton (Joan) Boroff of Big Rapids, Carol (Melvin) Place of Lansing, Larry Maneke of Mecosta, Linda (Neil Witbeck) Maneke of Evart, Becky (Thad) Stevens of Morley, Karen (Michael) Hill of Wilsonville, AL, Sandra (Jim) Wood of Sand Lake, Kenneth (Thelma) Boroff of Mecosta, Besides his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by several Aunts, Uncles and a cousin, Donald Maneke. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Steve Scott officiating. The family will greet friends this evening (Monday) at the funeral home from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a military memorial service taking place at 8:00 p.m. under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #2335 of Mecosta. Memorial contributions in Leonard's name may be made to either the V.F.W. Post #2335 of Mecosta or the Chippewa Lake Community Church.
