Obituary

Lenora "Nora" Quisenberry, age 82 of Barryton, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in Grand Rapids. She was born in Pine Township, Coral, MI to Otto and Treva (Wood) Bannen. Nora was the librarian at Chippewa Hills Elementary Schools for over 20 years before she retired. Among Noras interests was sharing her enjoyment of crafts with others. She had a keen appreciation for quilting, and delighted in shopping for beautiful material. In the kitchen she had a special knack for baking bread, frying donuts and decorating wedding cakes. Nora often delivered those cakes to various reception halls around the area complete with floral arrangements from her own gardens. She loved working in her flower beds and attracting birds to her yard. Her outdoor companion was always a dog; usually a Border Collie and most recently her beloved Golden Retriever Emma. Nora cherished books and the stories and information they contain. She shared that enthusiasm with her grandchildren and countless other children. Always ready for a game of cards, Nora relished her time and adventures with the many friends she made throughout her lifetime. She was actively involved with the Commission on Aging Advisory Board, Sheridan Township Board and Chippewa Hills School Board for numerous years. She is survived by daughters, April Ann (Carlos) Alvarado of Ludington and Amber Ann (Jeffrey) Snow of Barryton; grandchildren Melissa Ann and Sebastian (Alexandra) Alvarado, Emily Ann Snow; a sister Nancy Hopkins; several cherished nieces and nephews, and many friends and extended family members who will remember her dedication to the community. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Treva Bannen; husband, Elbert "Bill" Quisenberry; infant daughter, Laurie Ann and one brother Duwayne Bannen. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a reflection of Noras life beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
