Leland M. "Lee" Harris, age 82 of Stanwood, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, at his home. He was born in Morley on January 8, 1938, the son of Milo and Stella (Graves) Harris. Lee married Phyllis Cooley on June 19, 1999 and together they raised their family in the Morley Stanwood Areas. He cared about his community and volunteered with the Mecosta County Sheriffs Posse and the Tamarack Emergency Team. Lee enjoyed being outdoors; playing slow-pitch softball, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and archery. He had a talent for working on cars, calling square dances, and he liked to listen to country music. Lee had a loveable personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Phyllis; three sons, Bill (Cheryl), Leland (Melissa), and Melvin (Tammy); five daughters, Lynette Harris, Janette (Kyle) Parks, Jodie Harris, Rhonda (Mark) Dunn and Brenda (Dan) Whipple; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ron and Ralph "Whitey" (Joann); and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clarence "Bud" and Orve "Red"; three sisters, Bernice Sorum, Lillian Harris, and Rita "Punk" Stewart; and his daughter, LaVonne Sheldon. The family will greet friends while following the government guidelines, please social distance, wear a mask, and 20 people will be allowed in at a time, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with only family inside the funeral home. An outdoor system will be set in the parking lot so additional guests attending may listen from the safety of their automobiles.
