Ilene “Lee” Malina, 70, of Big Rapids, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was born on June 12, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Finkel) Liberson
Lee earned her master's degree from Roosevelt University and dedicated her career to serving others as a case manager in human services. She had a compassionate heart and found fulfillment in helping others.
A devoted rock hound, Lee loved traveling in search of her next favorite rock. She also had a deep love for animals and generously volunteered her time with the Arc of Mecosta County. Music brought her great joy, and she especially enjoyed attending the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival.
For Lee, it was never just a vacation—it was always an adventure. Wherever she went, she embraced every opportunity to explore, laugh, and make lasting memories. She had a zest for life that was contagious and made every outing an experience to remember.
She is survived by her loving wife, Donna Malina; children, Karen (Paul) Nakata, David Malina, and Tim Malina; granddaughter, Adriana Norman-Malina; sister, Judith (Avi) Almog; and brother,Mark Liberson ,dear friends Kristina Caluya and Maureen Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held July 6th at 11:00 at Highlandview Cemetary, located at 607 W. Bellevue Street in Big Rapids. It’s going to be hot, please dress casually.
