Lee J. Dockham, age 82 of Barryton, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home with family at his side. He was born on October 21, 1931 in Orange Township, Ionia County, MI to George and Lueza (Hissong) Dockham. Lee was honorably discharged from the United States Army where he was a military policeman, during the Korean War.He married Luella M. Haney on June 5, 1969 in Lansing where they both were employed at Oldsmobile. Upon retirement they made their home in Barryton where they have enjoyed living ever since. Lee was known to many in the area as the "Candle Man" as he would frequent area flea markets with his handmade candles and jewelry. Lee was a member of the Barryton Church of Christ and had a charming spirit.He will be missed by his wife of 44 years Luella of Barryton; children, Sandi (Tim) Ayers of Walnut, KS, Tom Dockham of Kalamazoo; step children, Vicki (Jim) Sproul of Lansing and Brian (Terri) Fountain of Morley; two brothers, Harold (Shirley) and Kenny (Betty); 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends who will remember his contagious smile.Lee was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.A celebration of Lee's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Barryton Church of Christ with Pastor Rick Lippert officiating. Memorials in Lee's name can be made to the Church of Christ or God's Helping Hands. Arrangements and care have been entrusted to the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton.
