Lawrence A. Schultz, age 70 of Blanchard formerly of Big Rapids, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 in Cadillac. He was born April 5, 1942 in Alpena, the son of Arnold and Lydia (Timm) Schultz. Larry graduated from Alpena High School and later received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. He earned his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and worked for the State of Michigan as an Environmental Engineer until his retirement. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his children, Kevin (Bridgitt) Schultz of DeWitt, Kelly (Mike) Wilson of Petoskey, Adam (Angie) Schultz of Reed City and Ryan (Nicole) Schultz of Cadillac; 15 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Phyllis (Lee) Hoppe and Linda (Frank) Epley; 3 nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral service is planned for 12:00 p.m. (noon) Thursday, April 12th at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Mecosta (7296 9 Mile Road, Mecosta, MI 49332) with Pastor Vic Charnley and Pastor Bernie Wethington officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Graveside services will take place 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17th at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Alpena. Memorial contributions may be made in Larry's name to Mercy Hospice of Cadillac.
