LaWayne M. Hill, age 54 of Howard City, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Spectrum Health Meijer Heart Center with his family at his side. He was born December 23, 1960 in Battle Creek, the son of Lonna J. (Baker) and Gary L. Hill. Wayne owned and operated Hill's Body Shop for nearly 25 years in Howard City. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his work, paying particular attention to detail. Wayne had a generous and caring heart. His sense of humor put people at ease. Wayne loved spending time with the love of his life, Rhonda, whom he adored and made his house a home. He also enjoyed racing, boating, flying, being with family, friends and his dog Gus. Wayne will be dearly missed. He is survived by his mother, Lonna J. (Bill Lueth) Lewis; sister, Valerie (Jim) Lyons; brother, John Q (Jenny) Lewis; half-sister, Tracy (Justin) Park; step-mother, Dawn Hill; and cherished nieces and nephews. The family extends deep appreciation and gratitude to Jim Lewis, a wonderful and loyal employee and friend. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Gary L. Hill and step-father, Kenneth F. Lewis. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Wayne's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
