Lauraine I. Kern Emmons, age 53 of Stanton, formerly of Barryton, went to be with her Lord, unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2013 at her home. She was born on May 7, 1960 in Clare. Lauraine was the daughter of Wesley and Julaine (Cramer) Kern. Lauraine graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1978. She married Brian Emmons on June 10, 1985 in Grand Ledge and together made their home in Stanton where they raised their family. Lauraine was employed by Happy Holiday Tree Farm in Crystal and later NTB in Grand Rapids as a dispatcher. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, grandmother and family. Lauraine enjoyed researching genealogy and her yearly genealogy trip with her mother to Indiana. She liked photography and crocheting and appreciated looking at the clouds in the sky. Lauraine volunteered at the Barryton Area Historical Commission for many years. Lauraine is survived by her husband, Brian Emmons of Stanton; a daughter Linda (Franklin) Hevel of Hastings; three grandchildren, Megan, Baker and Lelia; her parents, Wesley and Julaine Kern of Barryton; four brothers, John (Connie) Kern of Texas, Jack (Susie) Kern of Ashley, Don (Francine Robinson) Kern of Grand Rapids, Tom Kern of Grand Ledge; many nieces and nephews; her maternal grandmother, Ilene Hovey of Barryton and her extended family and friends. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday (Today), May 20, 2013 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. The committal service will take place at Sidney Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Lauraine's name to Beth Haven Baptist Church or the Barryton Church of Christ.
