Laura J. Donley, age 69 of Stanwood, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 18, 2021 at her home. She was born in Bellaire on September 27, 1951, the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Sands) Suydan. Laura graduated from high school in Ohio and later moved with her parents to Morley. She married Michael Donley August 4, 1973 at Big Rapids Assembly of God, where they first met. Together Laura and Mike raised their three boys in Stanwood. After her children were in school, Laura began her employment with Ferris State University in the Billing Department, retiring after 25 years. Laura loved her family, taking care of them and crocheting blankets for her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mike; three sons, Joe (Trisha) of Minnesota, Dave (Janell) and Phil (Terren) both of Wyoming; five grandchildren, Abby (fianc Alex Petterson) Chalupsky, Jeremy, Natalie, Madison, and Bryce Donley; two great-granddaughters, Wyatt and Sawyer Petterson; five siblings, Allen Suydan of Ohio, Rose Tourney of Traverse City, Sharon (Skip) Davy of Altona, Rick Suydan of Idaho, and Bill (Karen) Suydan of Morley; sister-in-law, Patty Suydan of Ohio; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Laura was preceded in death by two brothers Arthur "Butch" and Russell "Tiny" Suydan and sister Colleen Fairbanks. Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Lynn Winans officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22nd at the Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Laura will be laid to rest at Stanwood Cemetery.
