Larry F. Maneke, age 57 of Mecosta, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Big Rapids. He was born December 9, 1954 in Lakeview, the son of Forest and Elizabeth (Boroff) Maneke. Larry graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1972. He was employed by Evart Products and retired after working 30 years. Larry was a volunteer firefighter for 5 years in the Chippewa Lake community. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Larry took pleasure in cooking a good meal, playing a game of dice and spending time with his family. He loved his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He is survived by 3 children, Victor (Carmen Foster) Maneke of Chippewa Lake, Nicholas (Eva) Maneke of Morley and Samuel Maneke of Evart; 5 grandchildren, Gabrial, Levi, William, Zayne and Piper; his mother, Elizabeth Maneke of Mecosta; 5 brothers and sisters, Carlton (Joan) Boroff of Big Rapids, Carol (Mel) Place of Lansing, Linda (Neil) Witbeck of Evart, Becky (Thad) Stevens of Morley, Karen (Michael) Hill of Wilsonville, Alabama; several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his father Forest Maneke and a brother Donald Maneke. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will greet friends from Noon to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Larry's name may be given to his family.
