Kim A. Rush, age 61 of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home. He was born September 23, 1955 in Natrona Heights, PA the son of Frank A. Jr. and Pearl L. (Bush) Rush.
An industrial accident in Kalamazoo left Kim legally blind, yet he continued his education earning a MA degree in English literature from Western Michigan University. He taught creative writing and literature for many years at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, MI and Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE while continuously writing and publishing poetry, essays, and short stories. Kim retired to the small community of Woodville to write and commune with nature. He will be forever remembered as a supportive and loving father and husband.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rajka Rush of White Cloud; children, Ben Rush stationed with the United States Airforce in Osaka, Japan, Ian Rush of Denver, CO, Leah-Rose Becker of Kalamazoo, Archie Rush of White Cloud; four grandchildren, Aris, Kai, Tyler and Ethan Rush; a brother, Jace Rush of Alberta, Canada; a sister, Jane Johnson of Leechburg, PA; nieces and nephews, Dylan Rush, Emily Olsen, Andrea Rush, Leigh Walton, Brad Godfrey; great nieces and great nephew, Alyssa, Mikayla, Kaitlyn and Eric; cousin, Wayne Shoop; mother and father-in-law, Vesna and Kolja Miroevi sister-in-law, Danijela Miroevi brother-in-law, Igor and Tea Miroevi and extended Miroevi and Majer family all at home in Croatia.
Kim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elaine Rush and Linda Godfrey.
A memorial service for Kim will take place 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 3:30 until service at 4:00 p.m.
