Kevin L. Roe, age 59 of Big Rapids, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. He was born February 19, 1958 in Big Rapids, the son of Theo Roe and Margaret (Wilkinson) Roe Mendenhall. Kevin graduated from Big Rapids High School. He studied Music Performance at Olivet College and University of Michigan, member of the marching band.
Kevin was employed by Rogers Jewelers in Big Rapids for many years.
He had a love for music and he brought that love to the community. Kevin was the manager of Believe in Music of Big Rapids, a member of the popular local rock and roll band "Hot Soup" in the late 70s early 80s, music director and conductor for stage plays at Ferris State University and Stage M of Big Rapids, choir director for the Big Rapids First United Methodist Church, and he performed at numerous assisted living homes and the Mecosta County Commission on Aging as Fifty Shades of Jazz.
He is survived by his two children, Tyler (Brooke) Roe of Byron Center and Sarah (Padric) Bolen of Grand Rapids; two brothers, Theo "Ted" (Gloria) Roe of Massachusetts and David (Tessie) Roe of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Keith Roe.
A memorial service will take place 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids.
