Obituary

Kevin McNeilly, 66, of Sears, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 21, 1959, in Lakeview, the son of Eldon and Kay (Jones) McNeilly.

Kevin grew up on a dairy farm, where early mornings, chores, and hard work were instilled in him from a young age. His love and passion for farming continued throughout his life. He farmed for many years and was known by all who knew him as one of the hardest workers around.

Kevin served his community throughout his life. He was an Eagle Scout in his younger years and later on was a part of the Barryton Community Fire Department. Kevin served the department for sixteen years, holding a position as a lieutenant some of that time. As he grew older Kevin sponsored several charity and community events through donations.

Beyond his time spent dairy and pig farming, he enjoyed riding horses, snowmobiling, fishing, sitting around a fire sharing stories and hunting. He was most excited about his hunting adventures in Africa. While these passions brought him great joy, his proudest moments were spent with his family, especially being known as “Papa” to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jeremiah (Rebecca Szpiech) McNeilly, Brian McNeilly, and Justin McNeilly; grandchildren, Ashlynn, Mayson, Kendall, Livia, and Crosley; significant other, Ellen McCauley; siblings, Debbie (Jim) Campbell, Melody (Dale) Kesler, Rose (Mike) Simon, Jeff (Patti) McNeilly, Lorrie McNeilly, and Trudy (Terry) Vogel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Elyse; and great-niece, Shae.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 12:00 noon at The Church of God in Barryton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

He will be laid to rest at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton.

In memory of Kevin—a farmer at heart and a simple man—the family requests that those attending come dressed as Kevin would have wanted: casual and comfortable.
