Kenneth "Ken" Cecil Welch, age 77 of Morley, was surrounded by loved ones when he passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Ken was born May 20, 1945 in Muskegon, Michigan, son to the late Cecil and Mary Sicilia (Rockwell) Welch. Ken married Rose Mary Alcorn sharing 42 great years together. Ken was a truck driver for over 40 years going all over the country. After working eight hours it was nothing for him to come home on Friday night and pack the family up to go camping in Paradise for the weekend. Of course, if grandma Alcorn was along it could turn into two weeks with some time spent in Temple. Ken loved everything outdoors and enjoyed the beauty of the natural world around him. He also enjoyed the Manistee National Forest and in the fall, you could find him salmon fishing. He cared for fruit trees on his property for many years. Over the last few years, he loved watching and feeding the birds around his house. The birds, fruit trees and his grandchildren where his life. Ken is survived by his two sons, Brian Lee Welch and Mark (Sandra) Welch. Three grandchildren, Chelsea (Samuel) Hazen, Matthew Welch, and Dylan (Shelby) Welch. Ken was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose Mary, and his parents Cecil and Mary Welch. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Ken will be laid to rest at the Aetna Township Cemetery in the spring with a private family committal service.
