Kenneth R. Johnson, age 86 of Stanwood, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 16, 1938 in Big Rapids the son of William and Margaret (Zuke) Johnson. Ken married Janice Rebecca Arndt on January 31, 1959. Together they raised their family and made their home in the Morley Stanwood area. The majority of Kens working years were spent at Michigan Litho in Grand Rapids. He was a member and a steward for the GCC-IBT Local #546-M. During his retirement Ken passionately served as an assistant chaplain for the Forgotten Man Ministry in Big Rapids. He was an active member of The Woods Free Methodist Church in Stanwood. Ken is survived by his beloved family including his three daughters; Colleen Johnson of Wyoming, MI, Patricia Lee of Morley, Michelle (Guy) Mack of Wyoming, MI; two daughters-in-law, Julie Johnson of Lansing, Michelle Johnson of Howard City; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Janice on April 5, 2017, and in addition by his three sons: Kevin, Dennis, and Randy Michael Johnson. Ken was the last surviving child in a family 12 with 5 brothers and 6 sisters also preceding him in death. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at The Woods Free Methodist Church in Stanwood with Pastor Ron White officiating. The family will greet friends on Monday, July 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and also one hour prior to the funeral at church on Tuesday, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Ken will be laid to rest at the Aetna Township Cemetery in Morley. Memorial contributions in Kens name may be made to the Forgotten Man Ministry in Big Rapids.
