Keith E. Schuberg age 84, of Big Rapids passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Mecosta County Medical Center. Keith was born on May 11, 1928 in Pontiac, MI to Howard and Pearl (Kelly) Schuberg and raised in Big Rapids. Keith made his home in Rodney in 1958 where he owned and operated Schuberg Excavating for numerous years. Keith was a life member of the Buckley Steam Engine Club and enjoyed participating at the Big Rapids Antique Tractor Club and Blanchard Steam Club. When he was younger he was an avid hunter and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Keith is survived by seven children: Terry (Jo) Schuberg of Big Rapids, Linda (Dan) Maxwell of Evart; Randy (Patti Adrianse) Schuberg of Big Rapids, Vicky (Chuck) Lyons of Big Rapids, Kathy (Gregg Bunker) Schuberg of Stanwood, Gale Simon of Remus and Becky (Carl Anderson) Schuberg of Rodney; two stepchildren, Ronald (Joyce) Burrell of Dearborn and Mary (Norman) Smith of Lawton; one sister, Katie (George) Cota of Lakeview; sister-in-law, Bonnie Fountain of Six Lakes; former wife Dorothy Muse; his dear friend Bernie Bajko; nineteen grandchildren, twenty five great-grandchildren; his beloved dog Morgan and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Keith was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 44 years Alice (Taylor) Schuberg in 2002. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Bill Routley officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, May 3rd at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Keith's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
