Obituary

Kay L. McNeilly, age 78 of Sears, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2014 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Coldwater Twp., Isabella County, MI on May 26, 1935 to Martin and Nora (Forbes) Jones. Kay graduated from Barryton Rural Agricultural High School in 1953 and married Eldon A. McNeilly in Barryton on November 28th of that year. Eldon and Kay have resided in Sears on the McNeilly family farm since 1971 when they purchased it from Eldon's dad. They have continued to farm until the present day. When the children were younger Kay was active in 4-H and as a Girl Scout leader. She was member of the Barryton Rebekah Lodge when it held an active charter. Along with raising 7 children Kay worked alongside Eldon at McNeilly's Market, a store they owned in Barryton in the 1960's; she was a cook at Louisa's Country Place in the mid 70's; worked at Wolverine World Wide in the late 70's and retired after 20 years of service from Evart Products in 2000. Kay looked forward to wintering in Arizona and missed last two winters there due to declining health. She enjoyed sewing, camping, baking, canning and most of all spending time with her grandkids. Kay is survived by her husband of 60 years Eldon of Sears; children, Deborah (James) Campbell of Ann Arbor, Melody (Dale) Kesler of Edwardsburg, Rose (Michael) Simon of Big Rapids, Kevin McNeilly of Sears, Jeff (Patti) McNeilly of Sears, Lorrie McNeilly of Weidman and Trudy (Terry) Vogel of Sears; two sisters, Bonnie Hyder and Carol (Bruce) Navarre; brothers and sisters-in-law, Imogene McNeilly, Lavonne (Lynn) Adams, Aletha McNeilly, Gene (Louise) Brigner, Darwin (Sharon) Helmer, and Arlo (Mary) Bentley; 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Elyse; a great-granddaughter, Shae; 1 brother, Clifford (Jo) Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis McNeilly, Charles McNeilly and Larry (Margaret) Bronson. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Sears Church of God (Corner of US 10 and 40th Ave.) where Kay was a member. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at East Fork Cemetery in Barryton. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5th at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. In Kay's memory donations can be made to the Sears Church of God.
