Obituary

Kathryn "Kay" M. Aldrich, age 80 of Weidman, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant. She was born on May 4, 1932 in Pontiac, MI to Wilber and Viola (Smith) Wright. Kay was raised in Pontiac and attended school until the eleventh grade. On March 3, 1951 Kay married Max Aldrich in Mt. Pleasant. Kay and Max raised their family on the Aldrich family farm on Brinton Road. When Kay was younger she enjoyed dancing and spending her time at Coldwater Lake by Weidman. The family has many memories of camping with their parents and fishing. Kay was a bow hunter when she was younger, enjoyed traveling, bingo and gardening. Kay is survived by her loving mother, Viola Wright of Lake; two children, Steven of Weidman and Linda (John) Pickett of Evart; 6 grandchildren, Cheryll (Scott) Moore, Steven Ray (Rosetta) Aldrich, Patrick Brown, Adam Brown, Kimberly (Kevin) Munn and Katrina (Rod) Courser; 14 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Conner, Halyen, Amanda, Caleb, Aurora, Jacob, AJ, Brittaine, Ivy, Courtney, Brandon, Kimberly, Zachery and one on the way, two great-great grandchildren Anthony and Raelyn; brother, James "Jim" Wright of Lake and many nieces, nephews and friends that will continue to treasure the memories they hold. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Max Aldrich, a daughter Kelly Schafer and her father Wilber Wright. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Sherman Township Hall on the corner of Airline Rd. and Rolland Rd., near Weidman. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Kay's name would be preferred to the local Humane Society or Animal Shelter.
