Kathleen F. "Audrey" Shafer, age 86 of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, September 14th, 2007. She was born November 10, 1920 in Toronto, Canada to Frank and Wilma (Kane) Brain. Kathy came to the United States in 1926. She married Nicholas Shafer on July 23, 1965 and together they made their home in the Detroit area where Nick was a construction worker. In 1970 they moved to Big Rapids to make their home. Kathy had been a resident of Altercare of Big Rapids for the past five years where she enjoyed playing bingo, attending group outings and receiving visitors. Kathy is survived by many friends including; Nick and Mary Dumsch of Rodney and Fred Nista and his family of Big Rapids. Besides her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Nick Shafer on March 15, 1980. Funeral services will take place 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, September 18th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Reverend Mark Lofquist officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Tuesday evening. Interment will be at Highland View Cemetery at a date to be announced.
