Katherine M. Christopher, age 79 of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 in Grand Rapids. She was born June 15, 1927 in Reed City to Peter and Mary (Dyer) Kuipers. Katie graduated from Ludington High School. She married E. Wayne Christopher on June 29, 1946 in Reed City. Wayne's career moved the family throughout the United States. Katie raised her five children and led a very active life. She was a devote Catholic, a member of St. Paul's Campus Parish and frequently attending St. Mary Catholic Church, both in Big Rapids. Katie was a hospice volunteer and a member of several social clubs. She is survived by her children: Wayne (Susan) Christopher of Cary, IL Mark (Barbara) Christopher of Highland Park, IL Carla (Richard) King of Tampa, FL Craig (Susan) Christopher of Fort Lauderdale, FL A daughter-in-law: Barbara Domin of Mentor on the Lake, OH Ten Grandchildren: Christina, Katherine, Kevin, Mary Rose, Sara, Bryan, K.C. and Shannon Christopher, Valerie Ann Thornewell and Troy Leintz Eight Great-grandchildren Three dear sisters, with whom she was very close: Elizabeth Kailing of Reed City Rita MacKellar of Fort Meyers, FL Brigid Woodward of Hersey and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her son; Michael Paul Christopher, 2 brothers; Joe and John Kuipers and a sister; Joan Kuipers. Cremation has taken place and the family is planning a memorial service for early summer. Inurnment will be at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City.
