Karmen L. Douglass age 53, a lifelong resident of Big Rapids, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on February 9, 2023, at her home. She was born on December 10, 1969, the daughter of Floyd and Mary (Olsen) Johansen. Karmen was a 1988 graduate of Big Rapids High School, where she was a pitcher for the softball team. On August 1, 1992, Karmen married Perry Douglass IV at Saint Paul Campus Parish, where they were members.

Karmens working career began as a bank teller at several local banks and medical records at Premier Primary Health. She enjoyed reading, tending to her flower garden, watching wildlife, and feeding the deer. Karmen was on the bowling league and slow-pitch team and was a member of Northwest ORV Association. She loved playing with her dogs.

Karmen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Perry Douglass IV; two daughters, Britani and Alyssa Douglass; mother, Mary Johansen; mother-in-law, Mary Anne Douglass, all of Big Rapids; and several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Karmen was preceded in death by her father Floyd Johansen and father-in-law Perry "Pete" Douglass III.

Memorial Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Jegar Fickel officiating. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
