Julie Ann Hoisington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 1st, 1949, in Lakeview, Michigan, Julie was a beacon of love and dedication to all who knew her.
Julie spent her early years in Morley, Michigan, where she attended Morley-Stanwood High School, graduating in 1967. Her path of lifelong learning and commitment to education led her to a fulfilling career in College Administration at Ferris State University, where she dedicated over 20 years of service. A woman of diverse interests, Julie had a passion for antiquing, collecting valuables, and leaving a legacy through her volunteer work at the Mecosta County senior center and the Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding in Rockford. Her life was deeply enriched by the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Jack Hoisington, and their loving children: Kimberly (David) Howe of Alaska, Christopher (Heather) Hoisington of Colorado, and Jennifer (Robert) Spicer of Big Rapids. She was the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, whom she treasured dearly. Julie is also survived by her many aunts and uncles who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Hansen and Pauline (Rekney) Hansen, and her brother, Robert Hansen.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Julie’s life at a visitation on Friday, September 18th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Daggett Gilbert Funeral Homes in Big Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Animal Rescue Coalition or the Mecosta Senior Center, organizations that were close to Julie's heart. Arrangements are provided by Daggett Gilbert Funeral Home.
