Judy A. Whaley, age 41 of Remus, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday December 15, 2013. She was born November 29, 1972 in Big Rapids. Judy graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1990. She married Jim Whaley on May 18, 1991. Together they made their home in the Grand Rapids area where Judy worked as a beautician, attended Grand Rapids Community College and started her family. The family later moved to Remus and Judy continued her education at Central Michigan University. She earned her Bachelor's of Science degree and taught school at Chippewa Hills. Judy was wonderful loving caring woman who willingly gave of herself. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She was very active in her children's lives and was admired for the example she set for her family. As a Woman of God, she was an unselfish volunteer, both at Church and in the community. She was a member of the Barryton Church of Christ, had taught Sunday School and even hosted VBS in her home. She was truly an inspiration to countless people and will be forever missed by all. Judy is survived by her loving husband, James "Jim" Whaley Jr. of Remus; four children, Charlene (Leo) St. John of Big Rapids, Andrew Whaley, Nathan Whaley, Brendan Barry all at home in Remus; her mother, Janet and her husband Steve Sims of Big Rapids, her father Richard and his wife Kim Cassidy of Chippewa Lake; three sisters, Teresa (Wayne) Biller of Mecosta, Tina (Jeff) Ide of Kingwood, TX, Lisa (Keith) Bania of Roseville and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Rick Lippert, preaching Minister at the Barryton Church of Christ, officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Friday.
