Judy Ann Elenbaas went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at her home in Barryton at the age of 73. Judy was born on January 6, 1943 in Grand Rapids, MI to Henry and Gertrude (Lundin) Sprik. Judy was raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Creston High School in 1961. She earned her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University. Judy married James C. Elenbaas on August 20, 1966 at Algoma Baptist Church in Rockford. Judy spent her life working with children in various areas. She enjoyed gardening, and collecting penguins and recently snowman. Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years Jim of Barryton; children, James C. Elenbaas of Negaunee, Tammy L. Elenbaas of Comstock Park, Thomas D. Elenbaas of Apopka, FL; "adopted" daughter, Tina Closson; a brother Paul Sprik; sister at heart, Laurie VanderMeulen and numerous cousins, extended family members and children whose lives she touched along the way. Judys parents, Henry and Gertrude; and sons, Martin D. and Donald E. Elenbaas have preceded her in death. Funeral services for Judy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Chippewa Hills Baptist Church (9166 25th Ave., Remus, MI) with Pastor Charles Richardson officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, March 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton and on Saturday at Chippewa Hills Baptist from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Algoma Township Cemetery in Rockford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Judys name would be preferred to the Chippewa Hills Baptist Church where she was a member.
