Judith K. "Judy" Wierenga, age 77 of Big Rapids formerly of Holland, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital. She was born March 15, 1937 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Zech) VanHoven. Judy married Willis "Bill" Wierenga on October 7, 1955 in Charlevoix and together they raised their family in Wyoming, MI. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Wierenga of Traverse City and Cindy (Tom Hendricksen) Hovinga of Big Rapids; grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Glover and Bradley (Samantha) Swarthout; three great-grandchildren, Brenden and Jace Swarthout, Scarlett Glover; sister, Carole VanHoven of Kentwood; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Walter) Jousma, Arlene Dalphin and Judy Gardner; several nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bill Wierenga, on November 22, 2013; her daughter, Kristine Wierenga in 1967 and her parents. A celebration of Bill and Judy's life together forever will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Judy's name to Pulmonary Rehabilitation Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital or ICU Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital.
