Judith "Judy" K. Manting, age 79 of Big Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 15th, 2023. She was born in Ludington on August 3rd, 1944, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Moeggenberg) Post. Judy was a 1962 graduate of Barryton High School and a member of St. Mary - St. Paul Catholic Community in Big Rapids. Judy married Ralph Manting on July 20, 1974 and together they made their home in Woodburn, Oregon until they moved home to Big Rapids in 1980. She was the accounting manager for 35 years at Harrys TV. Judy enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR, and traveling the country in the motorhome with Ralph. She loved animals, especially her dogs Murphy, Rocky, and Gabby, and cat Winston. Judy is survived by her husband, Ralph Manting; three children, Shawna (Tim) Crisenbery, Eric (Martha Huttenlocher) Manting, and Laura Manting; four grandchildren, Logan (Nick Schrader) ONeil, Christopher ONeil, Nick and Jack Manting; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Corbin ONeil, and one great-granddaughter on the way in March; sisters-in-law, Victoria and Leslie Post, and Marcae (David Martin) Manting; and brother-in-law, Thomas (Sally) Manting. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Lori Ann ONeil, and brothers Robert and James Post. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Big Rapids with Father Jegar Fickel officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 20th at Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the Church. Judy will be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids.
