Juanita J. Ballard, age 83, of Flint passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Reed City Campus, Skilled Nursing Center. She was born September 11, 1925 in Lansing to Henry and Agnes (Earle) Westra. She was a founding member of the New Life Community Lutheran Church in Swartz Creek. Juanita was a breast cancer survivor. She loved playing bridge and crocheting many items for family and friends. Juanita is survived by two sons, William (Jody) Ballard of Flint and Paul (Deborah) Ballard of Swartz Creek; grandmother of Rebecca (Ryan) Robinson, Danielle, Amanda and Eric; great-grandmother of Drew and Clarke; a brother, Wayne (Patsy) Westra of Allen Park; and a sister, Luella (Harmon) Potter of Barryton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Terry; and a sister, Patricia Potter. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton with Reverend Brad Yops officiating. Burial will be at Flake Cemetery in Barryton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. today (Friday) at the funeral home and from 11:00 a.m. to service time at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Juanita's name may be given to New Life Community Lutheran Church in Swartz Creek.
