Obituary

Dr. Joyce M. (Noeske) Paape, age 82 of Canadian Lakes, went to be with the Lord April 12, 2011 after a brave fight against cancer. She was born November 28, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Walter and Ellen (Marrick) Noeske. After graduating from Shorewood High School, she earned a nursing certificate at the Milwaukee School of Nursing in 1950. She continued her collegiate career at Wayne State University achieving her Bachelors and Masters of Nursing. She finished her education with a PHD in Psychology from the Fielding Institute in San Diego, California. She worked as a counselor and a public health nurse for Oakland County and Central Michigan Community Mental Health Services until her retirement. She married Frank Paape June 9, 1973 in Detroit. Joyce and Frank moved to Canadian Lakes where they made their home and attended the Chapel of the Lakes Church for many years. She rejoiced in all things in life, especially reading, music, gardening, cooking, traveling and worshiping with her church family. Joyce is survived by 4 children, Susan Cullen of Big Rapids, Mike Paape of Westland, Joy (Charles) Buhagiar of Port Huron and Randy (Stacey) Sinischo of Colorado Springs; 7 grandchildren, Joy Leone (Ben) Hammond, Terrence Cullen, Christian, Rachael and Connor Buhagiar, Cory Sinischo, and Taylor Lewis; a great-granddaughter Lydia Hammond; 4 sisters, Marion, Margie, Betty and Deanna; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Noeske and Marlene Peterson: and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband Frank Paape and son Larry Paape. A memorial service will take place 12:00 p.m. (noon) Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church near Mecosta. Inurnment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's name to Hope Lodge of St. Mary's in Grand Rapids (129 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503), Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods (8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315), Blue Lake Public Radio(300 E.
